Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products division is seeking qualified professionals to consider for their Converting Maintenance Technician position to support the Converting department at our Plattsburgh, NY facility.
The Converting Maintenance Technician role is part of the maintenance team and works to ensure continued operation and reliability improvements of various production lines. They are also part of a high energy, dynamic organization established on the principles of an adaptive work system focused on the execution of reliability strategies. The Technician will learn and apply the equipment theory of operation and the operational processes. This position works an 8-hours per day shift schedule which will include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery to the desired competitive state
Installing and aligning new equipment
Applying problem solving methods to identify the root cause and eliminate failures
Performing periodic proactive asset strategies, such as maintenance routes, preventative maintenance, and other tasks to improve reliability and uptime
Working with the operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize maintenance needs
Helping meet or exceed production and quality goals while optimizing equipment to reduce waste
Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participating in the safety program
Assisting in the development and implementation of reliability centered maintenance strategies
Maintaining high standards to meet or exceed product quality and safety expectations
Effectively communicate valuable information to the team using a variety of tools: verbal, written, electronic, etc.
Maintaining accurate maintenance logs including labor hours and critical preventive maintenance findings
What You Will Need:
· High School Diploma or GED
· A minimum of two (2) years or more of mechanical maintenance and electrical experience in an industrial environment
Willing and able to work 8-hour shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime
Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, dusty and noisy industrial environment
Willing and able to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks to include lifting, pushing/pulling, gripping, reaching, sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing ladders/stairs throughout the 8-hour shift and up to 16-hours per day if necessary
Willing and able to work in elevated and confined spaces
Experience troubleshooting, repairing and adjusting equipment and machinery
Experience working with AC/DC drives, motors and controls, and PLCs
Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings and pumps
Experience reading and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings, P&IDs, shop prints and OEM repair manuals
What Will Put You Ahead?
Technical Diploma or higher in Industrial Technology
Three (3) or more years of experience working in a mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, construction, warehouse or military environment
Three (3) or more years of experience operating, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment
Three (3) or more years of experience using computerized machinery in a production environment
Experience working in a Pulp/Paper Mill or with Converting equipment
Experience performing preventive maintenance routes in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Experience working with computers for record keeping and documentation
