Consumers are placing ever more pressure on communications systems in terms of security, performance and reliability. Many of today’s applications are addressing these challenges by using Secure Elements to protect sensitive consumer data. NXP is key driver and innovator in security technologies for payment, identity and IoT applications.. 

You will be part of the system architecture team responsible for architecture definition of secure elements within Business Line Secure Transactions and Identity (STI). This includes embedded secure elements in e.g. mobile phones and IoT applications as well as SmartCard ICs for payment and Secure Identity. The position is based in San Diego, California, USA. The projects are executed in close cooperation with other NXP teams in Austria, Germany, France, India and the US. 

As Secure Element system architect you will be responsible for generating the system and IP definitions for secure element products, providing end-to-end technical leadership during the complete product developing process as well as supporting customer design-in activities. 

Responsibilities: 
Work in multidisciplinary project teams to define product architecture and bring products to mass production and design-ins at the customers 
Creation of functional requirements definition based on marketing and customer requirements 
Secure optimal specification set for the product under development together with IP, IC and SW architects. 
Technical leadership of the product definition and design process and give guidance to other design, layout and software engineers to obtain products fulfilling security, performance, quality and cost targets 
Support other disciplines in the project teams, e.g. testing, quality, industrialization, application 
Support product design-in for key customers 

Qualifications: 
MS or PhD degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science required.
At least 8 years of experience in IC Design and IC architecture 

Familiarity of cryptography and security standards

Experience in security applications in the mobile environment, especially embedded UICC a definite plus.

Familiarity with product security evaluation and certification such as Common Criteria, EMVCO, GSMA.

Experience in system modeling and performance analysis
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing
