Pediatric Specialty Care has an exciting opportunity for a Dietary Aide!
For 20 years, Pediatric Specialty Care has been successfully caring for medically fragile and technology dependent children. It is evident to our residents and their families that whether we are helping to transition a child back to their family's home or celebrating a resident's small, yet miraculous achievement, we are deeply committed to their physical, psychological and spiritual well-being every step of the way.
We are currently seeking a Dietary Aide to assist with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by being responsible for obtaining and recording information pertaining directly or indirectly to the nutritional needs of residents.
Day-to-Day tasks include, but are not limited to:
Execute the facility menu in collaboration with the Registered Dietitian and Speech Therapist including the regular weekly menu and holiday-themed meal events.
Provide operational oversight of the facility kitchen, nourishment rooms, dining areas, and Food with Friends program
Maintain proper inventory, storage, and labeling of all food items intended for consumption by the children
Prepare/serve meals to children in accordance with health code regulations, standard safe practices, and dysphagia guidelines for food service including modified consistency diets
Complete meal service checklists and temperature logs for food service equipment
Complete a weekly food order consistent with the facility menu requirements
Attend, and actively participate in, staff meetings, required in-service programs, and other meetings/programs deemed appropriate by the Administrator or Registered Dietitian
Maintain a working knowledge of federal regulations of the Pennsylvania State Health Department code and rules and regulations regarding nutritional services in the residential pediatric care setting
Assist Activities Department with food-related programs for the children
Maintain certification as a ServSafe Food Handler
Perform additional nutrition-related duties not specified as directed by the Registered Dietitian, Administrator, or Director of Nutrition Services
Consistently demonstrate Pediatric Specialty Care Core Values
High School diploma or equivalent
Basic knowledge of cooking, baking, recipes, and proper food handling required
Experience in food service with the pediatric population preferred
ServSafe certification preferred (or to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
