Job Description:

The Medication staff at Montage Creek are responsible for ensuring residents receive medication as prescribed by their physicians. Medication staff follow resident care plans and physician's orders to ensure resident safety and well-being while complying with all Federal, State, and Local standards for community operation. They incorporate Generations' Mission, Vision, and Values into their daily work and interactions with others.

Job Duties:



  • Maintains adequate supply of medications and supplies vital to proper resident care. 

  • Ensures that all medications and treatments are administered as outlined and reports medical errors to the supervisor as soon as they are noted.

  • Notifies the Health Services Director of the need to train staff in medication administration and delegation as necessary.

  • Provide leadership for all staff and communicate availability for staff backup based on medication administration times.

  • Provide problem-solving for residents, staff, and family members when needed.

  • Promotes teamwork and continuity of care at all times.

  • Communicates change of condition, falls, and all other emergencies to supervisor and ensures that adequate documentation of such items occurs before leaving shift.

  • Ensures that proper documentation of unusual situations, injuries, alert charting, communication records, and resident care notes occurs according to facility policy.

  • Ensures compliance of Assisted Living Facility with federal, state, and local standards.

  • Provides supervision for caregivers in the absence of the Health Services Director or Executive Director.

  • Maintains working relationships with community hospitals and other health facilities in the community and coordinates with their services through working and transfer agreements.

  • Assists with personnel and residents in establishing a home-like atmosphere.

  • Supports a Sales culture by warmly greeting all tours.

  • All other duties assigned.


Job Specifications:


Education & Training:



  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • Training in the administration of medication and treatments including delegation techniques.

  • C.P.R. and First Aid certified 


Work Experience:



  • Prior experience as a caregiver in a long-term care or senior living environment is preferred. 

  • Prior experience in medication administration is preferred. 


Qualifications:



  • Must keep abreast of the changes in the Senior Living industry.

  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in the English language.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations.


Supervision:



  • Must be self-directed and possess the ability to make decisions. Works closely with the Executive Director, Health Services Director, state officials, and medical personnel on a routine basis.

Working Conditions: 


Works indoors in well-lit, well-ventilated offices. Has the potential to work in hot conditions in resident’s apartments. Works with a variety of staff. Deals with the public, personnel, visitors, family members, and residents under all circumstances.
