The Director, Commercial Development has responsibilities spanning Commercial Development, Product Planning and Lifecycle Management (LCM) in support of programs for PTC’s portfolio. He/She works with cross functional teams across multiple therapeutic areas and indications and delivers the commercial strategic insights that drive the resulting plans. In partnership with cross functional team(s), this individual is responsible for prioritizing new indications and formulations for commercial products, including global commercialization activities for pipeline assets, and assessing the commercial potential for target assets. The Director, Commercial Development ensures adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.
Primary duties and Responsibilities:
Provides strategic guidance to cross functional teams across multiple therapeutic areas and indications.
Ensures the commercial perspective on clinical trial design, regulatory approaches and other aspects are represented across cross-functional teams.
Leads commercial analyses/assessments for portfolio prioritization and decisions across therapeutic areas and indications.
Works with research, clinical, regulatory, medical affairs, corporate communications to ensure global alignment and execution of the proposed commercial development strategy.
Map key market and competitor insights to drive input in the commercialization strategy.
Develops and manages annual budgets and makes recommendations for the best allocation of resources for the portfolio.
Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant, scientific discipline and a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible commercial experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related environment OR equivalent experience and/or education.
A post graduate education in a business-related discipline is desirable.
Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required:
Strong academic and applied science background including a demonstrated understanding of multiple therapeutic areas/indications. This includes previous experience with rare disease or oncology or other specialized drugs.
Demonstrated experience with, and expertise in, leading strategic commercialization planning efforts for near-term development or in-line products. Including demonstrated success as a commercial partner with discovery, clinical, regulatory and program management.
Excellent verbal and written communication and skills including the demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to senior leadership.
Analytical thinker with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
Ability to influence without direct authority
Strong mentoring and coaching aptitude; listens effectively, demonstrates empathy towards individual concerns and drives conflict resolution; promotes a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
The position is ideally based in South Plainfield, NJ but could be remote with travel to NJ when needed as well.
