Program Administrator - European Center - 18001888

The European Center is Tufts University's campus in Talloires, France. We have an office on the Medford Campus and a large historic building in France that is open 6 months a year. (Talloires is a summer resort village and almost all supporting services (hotels and restaurants) shut down for the winter. Off season activity is also limited by the fact that the European Center building itself is not winterized.)

The European Center offers several academic programs each year. Programs are targeted to all learners: college undergraduates, high school students, alumni and adult learners. The European Center also hosts a number of high profile international meetings, seminars and events, all of which address the mission of facilitating and promoting international understanding.

The Program Administrator position would be a significant part of a small team charged with ensuring that the European Center is maintained and well utilized during the summer months and that the programs we run are of the highest quality.

The Program Administrator will participate and support all activities of the European Center in Talloires (academic programs, building operations, financial tracking, meeting and event activities). More specifically the Program Administrator will:

  • Make program overviews for each summer’s academic programs.

  • Plan and execute a marketing strategy for attracting students to all European Center academic programs (advertising, info sessions, on-campus and off-campus marketing).

  • Plan and implement program elements including program calendar, course enrollment process, selection process (Tufts Summit), scholarship award process, orientation programs.

  • Work with Tufts Medford internal departments to prepare for student programs (Registrar, bursar, web edits, etc).

  • Participate in summer staff (intern) recruitment and hiring process (interviews and selection).

  • Work with French vendors, neighbors, host families and other support teams.

Basic Requirements:

  • French language fluency.

  • Superior writing skills (for the purposes of department communications and marketing).

  • Intercultural experience/understanding.

  • Experience working with students.

  • Understanding of the principles of diversity and inclusion in an international setting.

  • Computer/technical literacy.

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • 3-5 years working experience.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
International travel required.
