Mandate: The Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions within the Company s financial system. The Accountant is also responsible for assisting with the adherence to the book closing process and the financial analysis of results. Candidate is expected to be an integral part of the finance team working closely with operations to successfully account for company assets.
Adhere to the monthly book closing schedule including the processing of journal entries
Calculate and create monthly journal entries for capital projects.
Produce monthly financial reporting on capital investments
Perform general ledger account reconciliations
Assist in regulatory reporting
Provide guidance to field operations on accurate cost accounting
Support all internal units of the business including utility operations, regulatory and pricing, customer service, procurement and all administrative levels
Provide analysis of information for users of financial information
Provide solutions to business issues as well as embracing change as an essential component of performance
Complete special projects as needed e.g. support for audits, supporting regulatory rate cases
Perform other duties as assigned within the finance team
Bachelor s Degree required, Accounting/ Finance preferred
Understanding of regulatory accounting a plus-
Great Plains, SAP experience a plus
Knowledge of GAAP required
Minimum 3 years of business office experience
Ability to work in a team environment
Excellent interpersonal skills, professional presentation and the ability to communicate effectively
Proficient in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) particularly in Excel required
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information and recognize significant variances, trends and irregularities
Ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities to meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to problem solve by grasping the key drivers of issues and thinking through solutions that are effective and efficient
Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
