Job Summary

Hardware Development Engineer: Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.

Job Requirements

- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.- Experience in hardware design and development.- A strong understanding of complex concepts related to architecture, design engineering, reliability, prototyping and failure analysis.- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards.- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.- Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices.- Resourceful in applying creative ideas to solve problems.Responsibility and Interaction:- Responsibility: - The tasks this individual is responsible for are often non-routine and unstructured, requiring creative solutions with more interdependencies and with processes that are less defined.- This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems.Interaction: - This individual must work effectively with staff to senior manager level employees within the function and the technical team on assigned projects. There may be communication with employees in other functions within the Business Units as required.- Limited management direction is provided to employee on new projects or assignment; as well as review of activities and priorities.- The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert on team projects.- To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through coaching and influencing others.- This individual is able to successfully convey information to stakeholders at many levels related to the position.- Required to work independently.


Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor s degree; or 3 years and a Master s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
