This position is an introduction to the Apprentice Lineman Program.

A pre-apprentice lineman incumbent will be required to apply or to bid on all Apprentice Lineman positions within Local 57 territory. In this position you will perform physical labor duties necessary to assist journey level workers and others in installing, maintaining, repairing and/or operating Company facilities and equipment.  You will do clean-up work, remove debris, load and/or unload materials, store items, dig, shovel, grounds maintenance, fuel vehicles, clean and/or paint equipment and perform minor repairs using various hand held tools.  You may drive a Company vehicle in transporting personnel and equipment to and from the work site or run errands as assigned.  May prepare work orders, requisitions and other routine reports as assigned. 


To qualify for this position you will need:

- High school diploma or proof of equivalent GED.

-Obtain a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL)

- Attend a Craft Orientation (by invitation)

Complete a comprehensive hands-on skills assessment (administered by PacifiCorp).

Successfully pass the NJATC (National Joint Apprenticeship Testing Committee) exam with a score of "5" or better. If Selected for an interview, you will be given information on taking this course.

This position will require a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for.  

Physical Demands:   The job duties of Lineman require lifting in excess of 75 lbs from floor to waist and waist to overhead, carrying in excess of 75 lbs with both hands, and pushing and pulling in excess of 100 lbs of exertional force.  Job duties of the Lineman require sustained, awkward positions/postures including bending and twisting at the waist and neck; reaching forward, to the side, across the body and overhead.  Additional requirements of the Lineman position include forceful grip and pinch; manipulation of small objects; balancing on one or both legs during dynamic activities; manipulation of large objects during activities requiring balance and sustained awkward postures.   Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without an accommodation.
