BR BR B Job Responsibilities /B INTRODUCTION br br The incumbent serves as Operations Test Specialist performing duties as Range Air Controller (RAC), Air Intercept Controller (AIC), Surveillance Control (SC), Range Operations Clearance Coordinator (ROCC), Surface Coordinator and Military Radar Unit (MRU) Air Traffic Controller (ATC) in the Range Surveillance Center (RSC)/Mititary Radar Unit (MRU) as a member of the Sea Range Surveillance/AIC Section, Range Test Operations Branch, Sea Range Operations Division, Range Department. The Section is responsible for conducting surveillance, clearance and aircraft control for real-time test and evaluation and training operations support on the Sea Range. These operations may involve air, surface or subsurface vessels, vast amounts of tracking and data collection instrumentation, and the employment of various warfare systems including active missiles, guns and laser. Travel may be required to exchange information with personnel at related activities. br br DUTIES br br Range Air Controller (RAC) br The incumbent provides event specific Range Air Control (RAC) services such as Air Intercept Controller (AIC) and Surveillance Controller (SC). These control positions provide flight following/safety of flight, aircrew situation awareness, tactical air control, maritime surveillance and hazard area clearance/coordination, airspace boundary containment, and other services as required for the successful execution of specific Sea Range events. The incumbent accepts and returns aircraft handoffs with Sea Range Military Radar Unit (MRU) Air Traffic Controller (ATC). The incumbent utilizes aircraft control communications such as Ultra HighFrequency (UHF)/Very High Frequency (VHF) frequencies, systems such as Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) and displays such as Common Display System (CDS) in real-time to perform aircraft control services. The incumbent may provide air control services for any aircraft operating on the Sea Test Range which may origionate from various airfields and may be civilian aircraft or belong to various US or foreign military branches. br br br Sea Range Surveillance br The incumbent provides support by acting as Range Ops Clearance Coordinator (ROCC), and Surface Coordinator to meet operation specific Sea Range hazard area surveillance and clearance requirements. The incumbent utilizes Sea Range surveillance and clearance assets such as Range communications suites, Common Display System (CDS), land based surveillance radars, Automatic Identification System (AIS), internet websites, airborne and surface vessel search assets. The incumbent coordinates pre-operation and real-time with Sea Range Surveillance and Clearance assets, Range Control Officers (RCO) and operation specific Test Conductors (TC) to provide clear and safe areas for operations. br br Aircraft Monitoring and Direction within Military Radar Unit (MRU) br The incumbent provides command and control services to participating aircraft via radar vectors, radar traffic advisories, altitude assignments, precision profile vectors, airspeed adjustments, boundary distance calls, area
