As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be a member of the Training, Tools, Technology, and Tracking team (5126) and will report to the Group Supervisor. You will be working with cross functional teams in quality and engineering to create, consult, implement, and support process improvements, as well as support the implementation of Quality Tools and Systems. You will also join and contribute to a technical team in order to develop requirements, design, write, test, and deploy software applications, and provide supporting documentation and/or procedures for development and operations and support the development of software for a wide array of institutional tools and applications including the Laboratory's collaboration and professional networking platform, various internal and external facing mobile apps, and web-based multimedia sites.
Note: As a temporary position, this assigment may last up to 36 months in duration with approvals based on 12 month assignments. However, please note that you are not under any employment contract and your temporary employment status can be terminated at any time, with or without notice.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline with typically a minimum of 1 years of related experience or Master's degree in similar disciplines with 0 years of related experience.
- General knowledge and some application of principles, theories, concepts and techniques in one or more of the following areas: Quality Engineering, Configuration Management, Inspection techniques (non-destructive, electronics, mechanical), and general knowledge of applicable industry and standards in design, engineering, fabrication, integration, test and launch of space-flight hardware.
- Familiarity with both mechanical and electronic hardware assurance methods (inspection, test, analysis).
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems.
- Able to write reports and discrepancy descriptions, analyze situations, recommend solutions and demonstrate effective written, verbal communication and computer skills.
Desired additional qualifications for this position, in one or more areas: ability to read and interpret technical drawings for electronic components, and mechanical drawings. General knowledge and best practices for troubleshooting and documentation of web programs/IT Systems and responsive web design. JSON and XML experience. Server-side languages like Coldfusion. RESTful web services experience (SOAP). Familiarity with Quality Tools such as Root Cause, DMAIC, Cause Networks are a plus. Background in Statistics, Big Data, Metrics, and Statistical Process Control are also a plus.
