Doctor s Hospital is located in Augusta, Georgia, the state s second largest and oldest city, and is home of the annual Masters Golf Tournament. Doctors Hospital is nationally known for our Burn Center, the largest in the U.S. We have also been recognized as a top performing hospital by the Joint Commission, Cancer Center accredited by the American College of Surgeons, Chest Pain Accredited, earned the Joint Commission's certificate of distinction for total hip and total knee replacement and spinal fusion surgery, and we are the only CARF accredited facility in our area. We are a level 3 trauma and emergency center. Performs any combination of following duties in care of patients under direction of nursing and medical staff: Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system to determine patients needs. Bathes dresses and undresses patients. Serves and collects food trays and feed patients requiring help. Transports patients using wheelchair or wheeled cart , or assists patients to walk. Drapes patients for examinations and treatments, and remains with patients, performing such duties as holding instruments and adjusting lights. Turns and repositions bedfast patients, alone or with assistance to prevent bedsores. Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors and answers telephone. Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output,
as directed. Cleans, sterilizes, stores, prepares and issues dressing packets, treatment trays, and other supplies. Dusts and cleans patients rooms.
Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served:
Medical/surgical diagnoses including but not limited to orthopedic, neuro, GI, GU/GYN, renal, metabolic, pulmonary systems and those requiring isolation/precaution
* A Nurse Extern must have completed first semester of clinical nursing program and/or fundamentals and remain in accredited nursing program. An MST must be a Certified Nursing Assistant
* Certified Nursing Assistant required or completed first semester of nursing school. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), (Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider card) required.
* None required, prior experience as a nursing assistant or phlebotomy preferred
