OmniSOC is a security operations center hosted at Indiana University which provides monitoring and security operations services to US-based higher education institutions, research and education networks, and NSF-funded research facilities. OmniSOC is primarily made up of four teams:


  • A business development team (this role) which drives OmniSOC growth and revenue by engaging prospective and current members, both directly and through other outreach and engagement activities.

  • A platform engineering team responsible for running the OmniSOC SIEM and other IT infrastructure.

  • A security services team specializing in the comprehensive assessment and growth of OmniSOC members security programs by providing expertise, coaching, and security operations services to members.

  • The security analyst and engineering team focuses on the analysis of OmniSOC member log data from networks and endpoints for indications of potential malicious activity or compromise.

All 4 teams work together to deliver high-quality, timely service to our membership.

Job Summary



OmniSOC is seeking a business analyst (Business Development Lead) to join our team. This role will drive OmniSOC growth and revenue through business development activities that include directly engaging with prospective members; planning, managing, and leading outreach and engagement projects, and facilitating the retention and development of existing members.


Department Specific Responsibilities


  • Drives revenue and member growth through business development activities.

  • Responds to inquiries from prospective members.

  • Conducts informational briefings for prospective members.

  • Prepares quotations and templated draft agreement documents.

  • Analyzes prospective and current member needs and leads prospective new members from initial engagement through handoff to the onboarding team.

  • Monitors the status of prospective and current member inquiries, status, and relationships using CRM and related tools.

  • Prepares reports for management using CRM and related tools.

  • Plans, coordinates, and participates in outreach and engagement activities.

  • Produces or manage the production of outreach and engagement materials.

General Responsibilities


  • Conducts experienced assessments to understand client business needs and strategic direction and identifies technology solutions to achieve goals; consults with IT staff and business users to identify, analyze, refine and document business requirements and processes and develop associated solutions.

  • Facilitates and leads interviews, focus groups, and workshops to establish current and future business requirements; coordinates the communication between stakeholders and service owners in order to effectively implement solutions.

  • Performs experienced business analyses, including construction of data models, business use cases, process flows and technical specifications for transition to IT solutions; establishes system requirements through functional and technical assessments of existing software.

  • Provides stakeholders with necessary analysis documentation for buy-in, leadership decision, and implementation; conducts walk-throughs of recommended system functionality and prototypes with business users in small group or large group settings.

  • Ensures uniform documentation presentation and content structure including, but not limited to, online documentation.

  • Develops test plans and conducts system/integration testing; can test changes, enhancements, and new programs or functions to ensure they meet business needs.

EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in analytic or computer related field, cybersecurity and/or information security)

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 2 years of business analysis experience working on complex problems and producing concrete, actionable solutions


Preferred



  • 1 year in a business development or direct potential customer/member engagement role in a technical field at the organization-to-organization level.

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This is a hybrid position. 1 or more days per week may be required at the IU Bloomington or the IU Indianapolis campus. Flexible working hours are possible. Very occasional weekend work may be required.


TRAVEL


Domestic US travel of up to four days per month, 6 to 8 times per year may be required.
