Job Description Summary:
Oversee the design, coordination, and implementation of MEP systems and procedures across construction projects. Oversees and/or supports multiple projects in assigned division(s) to ensure MEP systems meet the required standards and specifications.

Position Responsibilities and Duties


  • Able to perform all essential Asst. MEP Coordinator responsibilities.

  • Implement and oversee MEP standards and procedures including all MEP-related activities, tracking, scheduling, and quality management tools on assigned project(s) across division(s).

  • Act as point of contact for project team on requests for MEP support for assigned projects.

  • Assist or lead in developing sequences of installation and schedule for MEP components.

  • Review shop drawings and submittal schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy; follow up and resolve issues/concerns identified.

  • Oversee sequence of startup and commissioning by project needs to assist the commissioning process.

  • Inspect equipment, materials, and fabrications stored off-site as necessary.

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships project teams, subcontractors, and key agencies.

  • Provide constructability review of all MEP trade scopes and documents; identify issues and partner with project teams on resolutions.

  • Monitor on-site work to ensure compliance with contract requirements and schedule; contribute progress information to periodic update.

  • Attend and/or lead project and team meetings as necessary.

  • Assist or lead in establishing testing schedule for each subcontractor's individual components leading up to coordinated testing of systems involving several contractors.

  • Participate and/or lead BIM coordination, as necessary.

  • Assist project team in reviewing change order request for scope and assessing pricing for MEP trades.

  • Review project close-out package, including job close-out schedules, as-builts, and other relevant documents.

  • Review subcontractor budgets, scope sheets, qualifications, exclusions, etc.

  • Make recommendations on subcontractor performance, abilities, and suitability for bidding certain jobs, and on key subcontractor personnel to request for specific projects.

  • Assist with high level bid leveling of MEP Scopes

  • Identify and execute risk mitigation strategies on assigned projects.

  • Assist with trainings on MEP procedures, systems, standards, and best practices. Assist with developing junior MEP staff.

  • Incorporate Swinerton core values in MEP practices, procedures, and daily activities.

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Requirements or Experience Requirements


  • Degree in construction or engineering or equivalent experience

  • Safety OSHA 30 or ability to acquire within 6 months. STSC after OSHA 30 within first year

  • Minimum 5 years of construction experience or field-related experience - with a minimum of 3 years of working experience in MEP role.

  • Demonstrated working experience with MEP and strong knowledge of MEP systems.

  • Understands and has knowledge of contract language and requirements.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of building codes

  • Ability to identify, address, and solve jobsite problems. Able to collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to drive project success.

  • Proficient in reading and working with plans, RFI's, submittals, and specifications.

  • Ability to use of VD&C applications

  • Working knowledge of Construction management software (CMIC is a plus), Scheduling software (P6 is a plus)

  • Strong computer skills

  • Self-Starter with a strong sense of urgency

  • Emotional Control, resourcefulness, adaptability, and strong time management skills

  • Effective English verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to travel as required by management and/or work requirements.
