About this opportunity:



Cenovus is looking for a Senior Manager, Learning & Development for our Dublin, OH office. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources & Labor Relations this individual will provide training, learning & development, and culture change support for U.S./Downstream assets in line with Cenovus values, Downstream Journey Book objectives, and U.S. HR priorities. Preferences given to individual in Dublin, OH area but will consider Lima, OH.



What you'll do:


  • Implements the organization's training/learning & development and culture transformation strategy ensuring skills, competencies and performance of employees to meet Cenovus's current (Lima, Superior and Toledo Refineries; U.S. HR, U.S. Health & Safety, and U.S. Environmental & Regulatory) and future strategic objectives.



  • Partners with Cenovus Corporate L&D to manage the implementation and drive effectiveness and consistency of training practices. Ensures implementation and compliance with Competency Assurance Programs for Operations and Maintenance (CAP-O and CAP-M) across U.S. assets.



  • Partners with subject matter experts across the HR COEs (Talent Acquisition, Technical Training, Labor Relations, Learning and Development and Total Rewards) to meet training needs, implement and sustain culture change and improve overall operational performance.



  • Ensures alignment and drives engagement/participation at U.S./Downstream assets with respect to Cenovus Leadership Development.



  • Independently manages complex learning & development projects such as operations/maintenance training process automation, process integration, policy/procedure development, procedure compliance and other projects as assigned.



  • Actively supports Director, U.S. HR regarding U.S./Downstream business opportunities: including facilitating meaningful discussions, sharing information, providing decision making tools, and other resources to drive collaboration and results.



  • Assists in the development and approval of workforce strategy and workforce plan that is coordinated and aligned with business objectives. Partners with cross-functional teams and operations to identify and clarify critical training, learning & development gaps.



  • Provides both leaders and employees with coaching, consultation, and guidance on the effective management of culture, people, structure, resourcing, and relationships.



  • Assists leaders and employees at all levels with developing and consistently demonstrating effective communication and conflict management.



  • Develops, monitors, and supports the Director, U.S. HR and Labor Relations in an annual budget process.


Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of related Learning & Development experience and/or with a focus on a combination of leading culture change, technical competency assurance, leadership development, organization and team effectiveness and development, diversity, and inclusion, and risk management; OR 15+ years of related L&D work experience in place of degree

  • Experience with Workday and Active Learner (or similar HRIS/LMS)


Preferred:

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field of study.

  • Master's degree

  • SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification

  • Prior experience in a union, manufacturing environment

  • Experience working on and/or leading technical and non-technical training/learning projects with strong consulting skills and the ability to influence from a non-authoritative position.

  • Highly skilled in the use of MS Office Applications. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to set and exceed established goals, schedules, and deadlines.



  • Proven ability to work in a team environment dealing with people from various disciplines to achieve goals, and to identify and resolve problems.

  • Well-developed communication skills to clearly explain training opportunities to staff at various levels.
