Job Description:

Position title: Technical Advisor III, Regenerative Agriculture and Market Systems Development

Location: Remote, United States | (Remote)


Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of agency-wide strategies, standards, tools, and best practices in natural resource management, land restoration and natural climate solutions,
  • Liaise between the SCP3 and market system development teams to develop and strengthen market engagement for income generation and market-supported scale of the SCP3 approaches.
  • Provide technical support to regional and country program teams, remotely and on-site, for program design, proposal development and implementation. Provide TA for improving the uptake of best practices, partnership principles, scaling principles, tools application, monitoring and evaluation approaches, etc.
  • Contribute to agency capacity strengthening initiatives in natural resource management, climate smart agriculture, land restoration programming, market incentives for land restoration,
  • Support systems thinking and approaches to promote land restoration achievements at scale that focuses on influencing the enabling environment to favor sustainable practices and integrating market development goals that consider both social, economic and environmental outcomes.
  • Contribute to knowledge management, communications, and learning, . Draft capacity statements and briefs on key accomplishments, SCP3 approaches, and contribute to SCP3 team newsletter.
  • Contribute to SCP3 activities related to fundraising, staff and partner capacity building, , sharing evidence, influencing donor agendas, and building capacity of local actors to mobilize resources for land restoration.


Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree in agriculture, natural resource management, or a related field. (consult with Dan as to what we should look for)
  • Minimum of five years relevant international working experience in an advisory or program management role, ideally with an international NGO, including 2-5 years living and working in a developing country.
  • Knowledgeable about value chains and market systems development work
  • Demonstrated success in providing technical assistance for project implementation.
  • Demonstrated success in proposal design and responding to donor expectations.
  • Command of technical principles and concepts in agriculture, agricultural livelihoods, value chains and markets, Integrated Soil and Water Management, natural resource management, and land restoration. General knowledge of related disciplines to ensure proper cross-sectoral approach, including gender, social inclusion, livelihood diversification, etc.
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching, facilitation, and training applying adult learning principles and practices.
  • Experience with data collection tools and methodologies, data analysis, and data presentation. Proficiency in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, etc.

Required Languages - Fluency in English (FSI S/R 5) required. Professional proficiency in French or Spanish (FSI S/R 3) desired.

Travel - Must be willing and able to travel up to 25%.

Internal: HQ/PIQA: includes but not limited to STA for Climate Change, Team Lead for Food Security and Climate, SCP3 TA IIIfor Land Restoration and Scaling; Market Systems Development Team; HQ Charitable Giving Team; MarCom: Regional Technical Advisors for Agriculture. Country -level agricultural staff, etc.

External: Donor Community: donors include but not limited to USAID, EU and other bilateral European donors, Howard G Buffet Foundation, Gates Foundation, CGIAR Centers and university and other research partners, private sector, etc.
