Position Summary :

The Bao Lab is seeking a meticulous Research Technician who will conduct activities to support research projects under the supervision of senior research staff. Work will be performed in a laboratory environment with occasional office work. The Research Technician will assist in laboratory experiments including the experiment design and the organization and analysis of data. This position is in person on the Rice University campus.

This position is funded by a grant, soft and/or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of funding. This is position is also one year term-limited

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Cell biology, Bioengineering or a related field
  
  
  • In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted
  
  
• 1+ years of related experience

Skills:

• Ability to perform molecular biology and laboratory techniques independently
• Good scientific and numerical skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to plan and schedule effectively
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication

Preferences

• 2+ years hands on experience in molecular biology laboratory experiments

Essential Functions:

• Assists in conducting day-to-day laboratory experiments
• Performs specialized research and experiments including plasmid cloning and validation, DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR and gel electrophoresis
• Collects data and maintains a laboratory notebook
• Performs all other duties as assigned
