Job Description:

Position Summary
The Parking office of Rice University is seeking a Maintenance Assistance to provide cost effective, efficient, and reliable maintenance service in preserving and upgrading the integrity of campus facilities with minimal disruption to customers parking. They will provide basic carpentry and painting services for parking facilities at Rice.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• One year of related experience (e.g. carpentry, painting, staining, and etc.)
• 
  Licenses / Certifications: Valid Texas Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) required with no more than three moving violations within the past 36 months and no convictions or deferred dispositions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past three years.

Essential Functions

• Performs preventative maintenance
• Troubleshoots and diagnose issues in order to determine the correct course of action
• For more complex issues, coordinates diagnosis and repair with supervisors and generates work orders
• Inspects, repairs, and cleans machinery, equipment, tools, and work areas
• Makes recommendations for materials and supplies needed to maintain inventory
• Assists other Maintenance Technicians and crafts
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Additional Functions

• Basic carpentry including repair and replacement of barricades, wheel stops, installation and repair of shelves, white boards, pictures and walls. Repair and replacement of parking system gate parts.
• Basic painting tasks including surface preparation, sanding, power washing and painting.
• Pothole asphalt repairs,trash clean up in the parking facilities, movement of barricades and flagging, and assisting parking attendants and custodians with projects.

Preferences

• Three years related experience in general maintenance and painting
