Position Summary
The position of Librarian 3 - Lead, Library Instruction & Information Literacy is a full time, professional staff position reporting to the Dean of Library Services. This position coordinates all aspects of the Augusta R. Kolwyck Library and Information Common's (KLIC) Information Literacy initiatives and is a member of the Library's Leadership Team. This Lead Librarian will supervise three instruction librarians and lead KLIC's instruction team in planning, designing, implementing, and assessing the library's information literacy curriculum to meet the changing needs of a dynamic and ever changing community college curriculum. The Lead, Library Instruction & Information Literacy Librarian will serve as the liaison to the English and Speech Departments and will provide library instruction (online and face-to face). Preference will be given to those candidates with two or more years of experience in coordinating a formalized library instruction program, supervisory experience, proficiency in assessment best practices, and the creativity and technical ability to envision and create reusable learning objects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Holistic Student Support
Serve on public services desk on a regularly scheduled basis, which may include nights and weekend rotations.
Assist users in finding, evaluating, and using information needed for their course assignments and research interests
Create guides, videos, tutorials, and other materials to support course information literacy instruction.
Teaching Excellence
Coordinate and manage all aspects of the Augusta R. Kolwyck Library and Information Common's (KLIC) Information Literacy initiatives
Plan and assess a strong curriculum integrated information literacy program aligned with current information literacy standards (such as, the ACRL Information Literacy Framework & AACU Information Literacy Rubric), with the institution's goals and objectives, and/or accreditation standards outlined
Lead teaching librarians in instructional pedagogy, technology, and assessment.
Provide information literacy instruction for both online and face-to-face classes at the main campus and remote sites.
Participate in professional development and follow current trends in librarianship, education, information literacy and instruction.
Fiscal Stewardship
As part of the Library's Leadership Team, participate in developing library goals, services, facilities, and resources
Evaluate and select materials to maintain relevant collections in order to provide current and credible information within the library's print and electronic collections.
Organizational Culture and Inclusive Practices
Conduct outreach with departmental and college level stakeholders in promoting the Library's instructional program and services.
Collaborate with faculty on integration of critical information literacy
Hire, supervise, coach, and evaluate three full-time professional librarians and manage paperwork and reports associated with supervision.
Design eLearning resources to provide point of need instructional support for students
Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge
Fluency in Information Literacy and Instructional pedagogy
Knowledge of assessment standards for libraries and its application
Knowledge of information search strategies and resources
Knowledge of current library science trends and information literacy best practices
Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking

Skill at providing outstanding reference and research help in a library setting
Abilities:
Demonstrated ability in teaching, learning, and educational technology in academic libraries

Develop successful outreach to academic departments

Strong supervisory/managerial skills
Provide basic technical assistance with computers and software used in academic environments
Required Qualifications:
An American Library Association (ALA) Accredited Master's Degree in Library Science
Minimum of three years' academic library experience coordinating or teaching in a library instruction program.
