Commercial Lending Officer Role: Greater Panama City, FL area

This position is responsible for developing new business, underwriting, structuring, and closing commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing a commercial loan portfolio. This individual will also represent the Credit Union in it the market area through active participation in community affairs.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:


40%

Identifies new opportunities for business loans as well as other Credit Union products and services to members through in-person meetings as well as by telephone, written correspondence, and external sales calls. Work within the community to build awareness and new relationships. Promotes all other credit union services, products, and solutions to prospective and existing members.


20%

Reviews loan requests, credit history, financial statements and performs a detailed analysis of the resulting financial data to recommend credit decisions. Structures loan terms and conditions that meet the member’s needs and the Credit Union’s lending guidelines.


15%

Manages a commercial loan portfolio for adherence to loan terms and conditions including but not limited to the timely receipt of required financial information, covenant compliance, and periodic reviews. Monitors loan repayment activities and taking necessary action to collect from past-due accounts.

Keeps abreast of Credit Union commercial lending compliance requirements and regulations. Ensures compliance with lending regulations and internal controls for accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation. Adheres to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness of the Credit Union’s compliance to all regulatory requirements.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience

Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.

Education

(1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills

Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills

Exceptional member service skills; good problem solving and decision making skills; good judgement; strong communication skills including written, verbal and non verbal; adheres to timelines and schedules; shows initiative in development and completion of projects; highly developed analytical and underwriting expertise.

Extensive knowledge of commercial banking and ability to analyze financial information.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Physical Requirements

Light or low amount of physical exertion; frequent travel by car will generally be required as well as transporting sales materials to events/meetings.
