Job Description:

The Instructional Designer at Santa Fe College plays a crucial role in advancing academic excellence in online, hybrid, and hyflex teaching by supporting faculty through group instruction and individualized consultation. The ID contributes to the creation and implementation of professional development groups in both web-based and in-person formats while promoting the effective integration of technology into instructional modes. Additionally, the ID collaborates with faculty to develop instructional materials and curate resources to ensure an enriched learning experience.

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Collaborate and consult with faculty content experts to create and prepare instructional materials for students in online, hybrid, and hyflex instruction or laboratory settings.

  • Assist faculty with the selection of effective instructional strategies and the articulation of measurable course and module learning outcomes.

  • Consult with faculty on the application of innovative technology, including Artificial Intelligence applications.

  • Research relevant trends and best practices for teaching and learning.

  • Analyze and evaluate new instructional tools and technologies and provide recommendations to improve current and future course design and delivery.

  • Review courses during the design, development, and delivery phase to ensure pedagogical and instructional design practices.

  • Incorporate innovative methods of content delivery into the online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses using appropriate technologies.

  • Analyze instructional issues and provide and implement recommendations for potential solutions.

  • Serve on online course review teams.

  • Work with Assistant Vice President of Academic Technologies to develop a robust, ongoing program of faculty professional development.

  • Design and maintain Canvas sites and routinely ensure online educational resources are accessible, updated, and functional.

  • Manage special projects as assigned.

  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Assistant Vice President, Academic Technologies

Qualifications


Required Qualifications


  • A bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, or curriculum OR a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least twelve (12) credit hours of instructional design coursework. Additionally, two (2) years of work experience in instructional or curriculum design is required.

  • Demonstrated experience working with faculty on design and delivery of online, hybrid, or hyflex courses.

  • Experience using Learning Management Systems.


Preferred Qualifications (qualifications the ideal candidate would possess)


  • A master's degree in a relevant field.

  • Higher education teaching experience in either online, hybrid, hyflex, or in-person settings.

  • Experience with Canvas Learning Management System.

  • Knowledgeable of the universal design and creation of ADA compliant online courses and resources.

  • Proficiency with multimedia authoring tools.


Additional Requirements


  • A criminal background check will be conducted.
