Pay Range

$96,600.00-$132,900.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

Summary:

The Production Superintendent is responsible for overseeing product manufacturing, finished product quality and raw material management for multiple lines in a 24/7 manufacturing operation. The Production Superintendent will lead a team of hourly and salary employees and be responsible for all aspects of production. This role will provide management and leadership by communicating and supporting JM corporate goals and facility targets for safety, productivity, and product quality, effectively problem solve and troubleshoot process and personnel issues, and develop effective corrective actions.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Utilize data to identify and establish key performance metrics, productivity projects and goals to drive continuous improvement
  • Work with the plant engineering and maintenance team to minimize downtime, organize preventative maintenance outages, and provide support for capital projects
  • Work with the technical and quality teams to meet product quality expectations, plan and schedule product trials, evaluate new raw materials and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain departments in proper and safe condition, ensure environmental compliance, oversee programs to safeguard personnel, preserve facilities, and promote good housekeeping
  • Develop and administer material and labor usage controls and metrics
  • Manage the overall activities of the assigned operations to ensure proper workflow, maintenance of production schedules, acceptable quality levels and inventory levels
  • Utilize facilities, workforce, and analysis of methods and materials to achieve economic operating cost using team management concepts and administration of work rules
  • Help develop and implement annual budgets and productivity improvement plans.
  • Maintain communications and coordination with other managers within plant operations.
  • Assist in special projects and assignments as specified.
  • May act as Plant Manager in his/her absence
  • Demonstrate and enforce Safety & Environmental Compliance with production.
  • Manage Production Resource Planning
  • Implement safety program/accident investigation for crew; continuously monitor safety process and compliance.
  • Provide leadership by communicating expectations and holding people accountable. Provide positive and corrective feedback as appropriate.
  • Comply and meet ISO 9000 certification requirements for operations
  • Six Sigma, SPC, Lean, 5S, and TPM applications, sponsorship, and team development
  • Alignment department goals with overall business objectives and other functional JM teams
  • Application of "Best Practice" technologies
  • Application of JM policies and procedures

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelors Degree (minimum) in Engineering, Science, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a continuous manufacturing environment with responsibility for safety, productivity, quality, employee development and resource management.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in computer applications and analysis of process data.
  • Demonstrated experience in productivity tools such as Lean and/or Six Sigma. Six Sigma Certification, preferred.
  • Experience in polymer science or textile manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats.
  • Ability to visually inspect and grade raw materials and finished products.
  • Ability to be physically mobile throughout the Spunbond Process (stairs, heat, noise)
  • Ability to safely lift material weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel periodically, domestically and internationally, on Company business.
  • Ability to work with extended hours as necessary to complete work assignments.
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change in a heavy industrial environment
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to develop highly efficient teams on the shop floor
  • Excellent problem solving/trouble shooting skills for supporting all aspects of the infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve positive results in the area of safety
  • Basic knowledge of quality management
  • Experience with an ERP system is required, SAP preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility; may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
  • May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 50 pounds
