About the role:
We are currently seeking aLongwall MechanicTrainee to join our Longwall Maintenance Team at our Twentymile Mine location. The HourlyRange for this position is between $37.17 and $41.90 depending on experience.
Reporting to the Longwall Maintenance Foreman. The scope of your role will be to performs maintenance on Longwall face equipment and outby equipment. Tasks include preventative maintenance, permissibility, and major and minor repair work. If candidate does not have Electrical Certification, must be willing to obtain Colorado L/M/H electrical certification within one year. This role offers a great opportunity for growth and to expand knowledge and skills.
Twentymile mine is an underground coal mine located in Colorado's scenic Yampa Valley about 20 miles outside Steamboat Springs, a ski resort and vacation destination. The surrounding area has towns both large and small including Oak Creek, Craig, Hayden, and Steamboat Springs. Hunting and fishing are very popular in this area. Shotgun and archery hunting is allowed on Peabody property for employees with proper authorization.
Peabody Twentymile has a safety-first culture and has been recognized two years in a row by the National Mining Association as the safest underground coal mine in the United Sates. The award recognizes coal and mineral mining operations with the lowest MSHA reportable injury rate. In 2023, Twentymile completed three years without a single reportable injury.

Preventative maintenance
Permissibility
Major and minor repair work. Rotating shift work.

Physical requirements:
Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift
Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom
Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
Must have the ability to lift/raise up to 80 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the course of work shift.
Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, water varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
