Wood currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Construction Supervisor, reporting to the Manager of Construction Services. This role has overall responsibility for providing leadership in the performance management of all activities related to the execution of construction work within Renewables and Transmission & Distribution projects, including planning, cost control, materials management, contract/work force administration, safety/incident prevention, quality, security, and change management. RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensuring construction work is executed as per engineering drawing specifications, design standards and contractual requirements
Ensuring overall project execution is completed in accordance with the Project Management Plan and to the satisfaction of the Project Manager by acting as the single point on site
Managing the overall Safety Management Plan, the site Environmental Management Plan, Quality Management Plan, Request for Information, Change Notices, Non-Conformance Reports, commissioning and energizing processes, As-Built completions and contract compliance
Assisting the Project Manager with scope of work portion of contracts, bid evaluation, land owner concerns, vegetation or access issues, constructability reviews and creating the construction schedule, including identifying outages as required
Implementing continuous improvements to positively impact project performance
Maintaining Wood contractual responsibilities
Establishing and maintaining Wood relationships with clients and other 3rd parties
Monitoring the construction and commissioning of all projects for schedule changes and tracking and reporting progress on a daily, weekly and monthly basis: identifying any issues that could delay the schedule,
Providing advice on course of action to maintain the schedule within authority levels or escalating to quickly address
Monitoring and auditing construction and materials management documentation to ensure that the facilities are being constructed to meet the quality specifications
Managing and replying to RFI's, issuing Site Instructions, NCRs and coordinating energization documentation
Prepare and issue Construction Manager invoices
Serve as the Project Site point-of-contact for Construction Contractor, landowners, Subcontractors, and all other Projects Site related activities
Direct the Construction Manager site and office-based staff to effectively manage the Services. Site Manager will plan the activities of all staff, determine site and office-based scopes, schedule travel and duration of staff in field
Monitor all deliveries of all Owner Furnished Equipment and document any damages
Assist in coordinating the installation of telecommunications to the point of demarcation
Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports
Arrange and/or attend site meetings with Owner, Construction Contractor, Subcontractors, Materials Supplier as required to effectively carry out Services. Such meetings may include preconstruction, construction progress, on-site troubleshooting, resolution, special review, punch list and final walkthrough meetings, startup, and close-out meetings
Coordinate with Construction Contractor representative to ensure clear and timely communication of issues or changes
Review of Construction Contractors change orders, schedule extensions, weather delays, force majeure, recovery plans, and re-baselines with comments to Owner
Review and comment of pay application in respect to progress earned
Maintain documents capturing Construction Manager hours, rates, expenses and any other documentation required to support invoicing
Maintain registers for all Construction Contractor deliverables, including
- Action Registers - Pay Application Register - Engineering Comments Register - Punchlist Register - NCR Register - Construction Management Site Staffing Plan
Coordinate any site visits instructed by Owner
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 10 years' experience in the construction industry
Academic qualifications/experience to enable effective interface at the engineering and management level
Results oriented with the capacity to successfully manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines
Superior analytical, problem solving, audit and investigation skills
Demonstrated effective leadership interacting with multiple internal disciplines and external customers in areas of civil, structural and electrical design
Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions with the ability to manage to the specification of a contract
Excellent and professional communication, interpersonal and team building skills within a diverse work group
Ability to work autonomously with frequent travel to remote site locations within an assigned geographical region
Experience as a Site Safety Coordinator considered an asset
