As a Senior Staff Scientist on the artificial intelligence (AI) team, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing AI-driven products that enhance diagnostic accuracy, streamline workflows, and improve the way medical professionals interpret and utilize imaging data. The Senior Staff Scientist is responsible for leading the development of AI solutions for use in ophthalmic products. This includes project planning, requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing of the algorithms and software. The Senior Staff Scientist is also responsible for investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential products, participating in the development of intellectual property, maintaining substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for leading AI projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, product managers, and healthcare professionals, to define and develop AI-driven solutions for ophthalmic applications.
• Responsible for leading the collaboration with KOLs on research and development topics for the CDM business.
• Responsible for driving the design and development of AI algorithms and models for tasks such as image segmentation, object detection, feature extraction, and disease classification.
• Responsible for continuously assessing and optimizing the performance of AI algorithms to meet accuracy, speed, and reliability requirements in a clinical setting.
• Responsible for developing algorithms to aid doctors in medical diagnosis using tools that may include statistics, decision support systems, and image processing.
• Responsible for creating comprehensive documentation for AI architectures, algorithms, and workflows, facilitating knowledge sharing within the organization.
• Responsible for providing technical leadership and mentoring junior team members on resolving problems.

REQUIREMENTS:

• PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related engineering field.
• Twelve (12) years related experience in analyzing and/or designing medical image analysis algorithms, and/or other multi-modal based applications
• Strong proficiency in machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision algorithm development.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow and/or other relevant tools and frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The annual pay range for this position: is $200,000 - $250,100 San Francisco Bay Are

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/ scarcity of talent.

This position is eligible for a performance bonus.
