Description:

Samson, the worldwide leader in high performance cordage, is seeking a Quality Management System (QMS) Lead who will be responsible for leading all assigned QMS related requirements and functions. They will coordinate, monitor, and maintain all procedures and records to ensure conformity to Samson's Quality Assurance Manual and ISO standards. The Quality Management System Lead will also practice a high level of business ethics, quality, professionalism, and safety in all activities in accordance with Samson strategy and core values.

  • Able to understand measurement with gauges, test equipment, measuring services, and scales.

  • Trustworthy and able to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • A confident computer user who is comfortable using Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Highly attentive to details.
  • A lifelong learner who can learn new software systems.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive Continuous Improvement in Samson Products and Processes:

- Utilize strong problem-solving skills by identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions in a timely manner.

- Use sound judgment to make informed decisions in ambiguous or uncertain situations, balancing risks, and benefits effectively.

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and systems, ensuring operational efficiency and superior customer service.

- Maintain and monitor system performance to ensure seamless operation, proactively identifying areas for improvement.

- Develop and refine processes to enhance customer experience, leveraging feedback and industry best practices for ongoing improvement.

  • Administer the Quality Documentation Process:

- Lead all document control requirements (quality manual and quality documents/records).

- Coordinate/maintain the quality warehouses.

- Coordinate returned goods processing.

- Lead other quality process support tasks as assigned.

  • Manage the Standard Product Testing Program:

- Develop annual plan.

- Coordinate and report service order processing.

- Coordinate test validation process.

  • Coordinate and maintain all 3rd Party Certifications:

- ISO 9001 Certification

- Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Certification

- European Conformity (CE) Certification

- International Association of Classification Society member Certifications

  • Manage Quality Improvement Opportunity (QIO) System:

- Support user requests (improvement, update, reporting).

- Validate/assign process owner.

- Monitor/report on process timeliness and trends.

  • Lead the Internal Audit Program:

- Take the role of Primary Lead Auditor.

- Develop and maintain schedules.

- Maintain and conduct internal auditor training.


What You Should Have:

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree preferably in a technical related field. Experience may substitute for education. Certified Quality Associate by the American Society for Quality within 6 months of the date of hire. Certified Lead Auditor within 12 months of hire.
  • Desired: Certified Six Sigma Green Belt.

Experience

  • Required: 2 years' experience supporting an ISO 9001 certified or similar QMS.
  • Desired: 4 years' experience supporting an ISO 9001 certified or similar QMS.

Compensation:

Targeted hiring wage: $30.00 – $34.00 per hour

Hiring rate will depend on qualifications and experience.


Samson has established wage scales for all of our positions, which are based on a minimum and maximum. The targeted hiring rate above is set to allow for employee's growth within the role. The full range for this position is $27.51 - $41.26 per hour.
