*This is a hybrid role with three weeks per month onsite (Mon – Thurs).
*Open to candidates working out of our Corporate Headquarters in Dodgeville, WI or our New York City office.

With a customer-focused lens, you’ll blend the art and science of e-commerce merchandising to produce a best-in-class online shopping experience visited by thousands of customers each day. Through cross-functional collaboration and high energy, you will elevate Lands’ End’s digital expression to the next level creating the most inspiring digital brand experience possible. Responsible for leading strategy, and accountable for driving sales results through ideal site merchandising - including (but not limited to) on-site search, a consumer-friendly taxonomy, and a rapid path to purchase. The Digital Merchandising Manager understands that the retail industry is constantly evolving, and that competition is everywhere. They are not attached to “what we did last year,” and take actions based on current & emerging digital trends.  An effective Digital Merchandising Manager elevates the customer experience, thoughtfully integrates emotional and captivating stories, and supports the evaluation and integration of new technical features to increase conversion and customer experience.

  • Lead the strategy & execution of a terrific Lands’ End customer’s shopping experience via merchandising the product catalog to drive customer engagement, increase conversion, and optimize on-site search relevancy on all device types. Key focus on driving operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

  • Apply functional, working knowledge, and sound understanding navigating our product-to-site pipeline and offer your cross-functional partners a strategic point of view of on-site execution, ensuring that the category navigation experience aligns with the design intent of the product, bringing key product initiatives alive through compelling story-telling.

  • Oversees on-site search strategy and optimization to ensure product results are accurate, with a focus on driving conversion, incremental revenue, and overall customer satisfaction.

  • Lead digital planning and development of seasonal strategies, promotional events, site enhancements, and product launches. Defines the site merchandising and taxonomy strategy for key seasonal storytelling opportunities, such as Back to School, Holiday, and key sale moments (e.g. Black Friday). Ensure digital content is prioritized, accurate, and up-to-date.

  • Oversees creation and cross-functional partnership of compelling product stories that enrich the customer experience and align with company-wide product, financial, and marketing goals.

  • Leads analysis of the competitive environment, business, and customer behavior to deliver a premium digital merchandising approach (e.g. navigation, taxonomy, cross-sells, up-sells, experiences, product visualization, etc.).

  • Leads one or more direct reports and transforms/develop talent. Capitalize on everyday on-the-job opportunities to coach Associates to use their strengths to perform at their best. Encourage and recognize Associates’ commitment to self-development.

  • Creates streamlined processes and workflows within the Digital Merchandising team to maximize efficiency and productivity.

  • Embraces regular quantitative & qualitative testing as a means to understand the Lands’ End customer. Champions iterative change as the fastest path to improved shopping experiences.

  • Lead and develop improvements that drive efficiencies in the digital merchandising process.

  • Maintain an open and trusting team environment; communicate clear consistent goals for the team.

  • Encourage, support, and ensure up-to-date training, resources, and application of all relevant systems/technology in the e-commerce industry.

  • Actively build and maintain relationships with Product Merchandising, Marketing, Creative, Product Management & IT teams.

  • Must follow all safe work practices, escalate unsafe conditions and report incidents.

Qualifications



  • 5+ years working in an e-commerce organization working directly with products and/or customers. College degree or 4+ years equivalent body of experience. Deep knowledge of e-commerce best practices and industry trends, including drop ship programs and 3rd party marketplace management.

  • Must be able to optimize a customer’s digital experience independently by leveraging Digital tools such as Adobe Omniture, Google Analytics, Endeca Experience Manager, and MDM/PIM product catalog attribution tools. A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, in particular). A basic understanding of HTML & database hierarchy is helpful, but not required.

  • Effective decision-making, strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills. Adept at extracting meaningful insights from multiple sources of data.

  • Strategic planner who possesses a global vision and can communicate well with leaders and associates in every discipline.

  • History of success working both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team on multiple concurrent projects.

  • Ability to multi-task in a faced paced environment and to remain graceful under pressure.

  • Ability to adhere to Lands’ End Attendance expectations.
