This position is within Kinder Morgan's Interstate Transportation and Storage Services Department, reporting to the Director-Business Processes. The Manager-Business Process position includes managing a staff with responsibility for:


  • Ensuring compliance of Kinder Morgan's DART System (Customer Activities Web Site), Informational Postings Web Site, EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), and associated business practices with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Regulations, Orders, Pipeline Tariffs, and North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) standards. The DART system is the customer facing system used for transportation and storage services across all KM Interstate pipeline.

  • Managing:

    • Communications to/from customers of NAESB standardized DART information via EDI,

    • The administration of DART internal and external security, and

    • The testing of DART production support enhancements.



  • Representing Kinder Morgan interstate pipelines related to activities of 1) NAESB, including the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and various Subcommittees and 2) the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA).


Position Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree and Minimum 15 years gas industry experience preferred.

  • Must:

    • Possess excellent public speaking, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and establish relationships and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.

    • Be detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.

    • Work effectively in a team environment exhibiting excellent leadership, organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.

    • Have experience with Performance Management, the ability to train and develop staff, and provide constructive feedback.

    • Have experience with the DART system or equivalent Interstate Pipeline Customer Activities Web Site and Informational Postings Web Site including a working knowledge and regulatory requirements related to:

      • Interstate Pipeline Services and Contracts

      • Capacity Release

      • Nominations, Confirmations, Scheduled Quantities

      • Measurement

      • Predetermined Allocations, Allocations, Operational Balancing Agreements

      • Invoicing

      • Imbalance Trading

      • Capacity Restrictions

      • Interstate Pipeline Scheduling business practices



    • Be familiar with:

      • FERC Orders including 587 A-Z, 636 A-C, 637 A-B, 698, 712 and 717.

      • Interstate pipeline tariffs.

      • NAESB Standards and Implementation Guides versions 1.1 - 4.0

      • Identification of data set, Web Page, and business practice changes requiring the development of a NAESB Request for Standardization.

      • EDI Mapping requirements of standardized NAESB data sets to ANSI X12.

      • Stewarding a NAESB Request for Standardization from submission to implementation via various NAESB Subcommittees



    • Have significant experience representing interstate pipelines at NAESB and INGAA is preferred



  • Travel is required occasionally to Houston, Birmingham, Colorado Springs, as well as to various locations to attend industry meetings.
