Why We Need You:


PEMCO has a dynamic and challenging opportunity for a Contracts Manager to join our community. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that contracts across the enterprise consistently meet business needs, legal and regulatory requirements, strategic resource goals, and risk management standards.


What You’ll Be Doing:



  • Provide analysis, recommendations, and counseling on legal, business, and performance elements of contracts and the vendor relationships to which they apply; assist management in determining and articulating project and vendor performance metrics; analyze, counsel, draft, and perform negotiations to achieve refinement of contractual terms and conditions including price and payment provisions. 

  • Participate in vendor selection processes including drafting and evaluating Requests for Proposal, Requests for Quote, and other vendor assessment measures, and conducting due diligence to determine vendor corporate substance and risk. 

  • Maintain a broad and detailed understanding of current legal and regulatory requirements applicable to the insurance industry including the confidentiality and security of customer and corporate data; ensure that all contracts are compliant with these obligations. 

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and revise business-to-business contracts to ensure that executed agreements meet PEMCO contracting standards, support the intended business purposes, and meet stakeholders' objectives; ensure responsible executives are aware of any exceptions prior to contract signature. 

  • Develop and administer standards for contract life cycle management: ensure that renewals and terminations are managed according to contractual requirements, PEMCO standards, and industry best practices, which includes timely review and action regarding pending ends-of-term and compliance with price security provisions. 

  • Develop and administer PEMCO's standard contracts as well as enterprise-wide and entity-specific contracting standards.

  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of corporate vendor management standards and practices in collaboration with the Vendor Management Program Manager and other key stakeholders; convert standards to contractual obligations. 

  • Consult with leaders across the enterprise to maintain a robust understanding of the general contracting needs and risks of each department, as well as the detailed needs and risks associated with specific contracts. 

  • Arrange for corporate resources and training on contracting, vendor management, dispute resolution, and negotiation best practices. 

  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with PEMCO's policies, values, code of ethics and business conduct. 

  • Other duties as assigned.


What You'll Bring:



  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience (business, communications or related) is required

  • 10+ years of experience in contract drafting, contract analysis, business negotiation, and dispute resolution with increasing scope, scale and/or complexity is required


  • Job specific: Strong negotiation skills using effective, professional approaches with occasionally adversarial third-parties is required


  • Job specific: Comprehensive understanding and familiarity with legal concepts and terminology applicable to contracts is required


  • Independent: Is highly self-motivated and self-directed. The ability to work with limited direction and to communicate relevant information to the appropriate levels during times of uncertainty is required.


  • Business Environment: Has a thorough understanding of our industry, the relevant business landscape, trends in growth and insurance environments; the ability to spot early indicators of change and apply strategies to adapt quickly is required.


  • MS Office: Skilled proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook is required.


  • Compliance: Knowledge and understanding of relevant laws, rules, and regulations is required


  • Problem Solver: Ability to analyze, diagnose and resolve complex unstructured problems quickly, efficiently, and collaboratively is required


  • Communicator: The ability to communicate clearly and informatively, verbally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and the community in both technical and non-technical professional language is required


  • Confidentiality: High degree of integrity and the ability to exercise discretion in confidential situations is required

Compensation:


The pay range for this role is shown below. Compensation decisions are determined based on an individual’s qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.



  • Greater Seattle area target pay range: $133,988-$163,764.  The full pay range is $111,657-$186,095.

  • Outside greater Seattle area target pay range: $118,247-$144-525.  The full pay range is $98,540-$164,233.


Greater Seattle Area is defined as working within approximately 100 miles of Seattle.


Outside Greater Seattle is defined as working approximately 100 miles or more from Seattle.


Benefits:


Regular part-time PEMCO employees working at least 24 hours per week and regular full-time PEMCO employees are eligible to elect coverage under medical, dental, and vision plans for themselves and their eligible family members with generous employer premium cost shares. In addition, as a benefits-eligible employee, you are:



  • covered by employer-paid basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance policies as well as long- and short-term disability benefit coverages.

  • eligible to participate in PEMCO’s 401(k) plan which includes a generous employer match (2 for 1 on the first 6% employee pre-tax and/or Roth deferral, up to federal maximums). 


PEMCO provides the following paid leave programs for benefits-eligible employees in their first year of PEMCO employment:



  • Vacation accrues at a rate of 10 days for new hires, and increases based on a schedule to a maximum annual accrual of 25 days based on tenure.

  • Granted four (4) personal days immediately upon hire.

  • Paid holidays for the eight (8) holidays observed by PEMCO throughout the calendar year.

  • Granted up to ten (10) days of sick leave immediately upon hire (pro-rated based on hire date and full-time/part-time status), which is approximately 28 hours more per year than the Washington state-required accrual.

  • In addition, PEMCO provides paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, and employee volunteering in the community.
