The Denver Museum of Nature & Science (DMNS) aims to connect people across Colorado with meaningful and joyful experiences in nature and science. 

DMNS ExciteEd

DMNS ExciteEd programs are designed for preK-grade 12 students and educators. They make science learning accessible, understandable, and meaningful through fun, inquiry-based opportunities to learn with the Museum’s scientists, educators, collections, and exhibitions. We provide hands-on experiences at the Museum (onsite), in schools (offsite) and virtually across Colorado that leverage students' curiosity and catalyze the next generation of innovators, explorers, problem solvers, and critical thinkers.

 

The Museum is seeking a Programs Coordinator within the DMNS ExciteEd team. This position co-leads the planning, development, delivery, and promotion of ExciteEd learning experiences for K-12 audiences. The program coordinator we are looking for will work on offsite and onsite programs.

Job Class: Full Time
Hiring Range: $27/hr (+$1 bilingual differential)
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri/ 40 hours 
Direct Reports: None

Essential Duties


  • Working with internal teams and external stakeholders (teachers, schools, community partners etc.), coordinates the planning, operations, logistics and staffing of onsite and offsite programs

  • Implements a program strategy and goals created with their manager and in alignment with Museum priorities to include diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI) practices 

  • Ensures success of programs through proactive promotions and marketing, securing resources and services, and ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders

  • Works collaboratively with community members, partners, internal teams and other stakeholders to develop new programs and update existing programs

  • Ensures that experiences reflect community interests and needs from target audiences and are aligned with our equity and inclusion work

  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships in the community  

  • Aligns training practices to reflect audience and team needs. Assumes an introductory role for staff training in program areas

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (or equivalent relevant work experience) required.   

  • 3 years’ experience in program coordination required.  

  • Ability to work weekends and evenings for programs and events required.    

  • Ability to speak, read and write in English/Spanish required.

Ideal Candidate Will Be/Have


  • Experience developing, producing and/or facilitating science outreach programs

  • Experience working with culturally or linguistically diverse learners 

  • Proficiency with web enabled applications 

  • Ability to understand the need to be nimble with programming and delivery
