Job Description:

Zurich North America seeks a dynamic Assistant Vice President (AVP) to join our esteemed Complex and Excess Casualty Claims team. This role offers a unique opportunity as it is fully remote, with flexibility to consider candidates from any location within the United States.

As a pivotal member of our team, you will spearhead and oversee a team of Senior Complex Claims Professionals, ensuring the accurate and timely resolution of claims across highly intricate lines of business. Your role will extend to serving as a subject matter authority for the underwriting team, providing invaluable insights into product developments or enhancements while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory policies. You will orchestrate the collaborative efforts of the team, with a keen focus on performance optimization, staff development, and operational enhancements.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Juris Doctor degree and a minimum of 8 years' experience in the Claims domain OR

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years' experience in Claims OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and a minimum of 11 years' experience in Claims

  • At least 3 years of proven management experience

  • Demonstrated customer service proficiency

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

  • Thorough understanding of insurance legal statutes and procedures

  • Ability to travel up to 25% within the United States

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Juris Doctorate

  • Over 15 years of experience in Casualty Claims

  • More than 10 years of successful management experience

  • Extensive track record in handling Excess Casualty Claims

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across diverse workgroups

  • In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the legal and regulatory landscape

  • Experience within the relevant line of business

  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Advanced degree in relevant field

  • Previous leadership and/or people management experience

  • Designations such as AIC, SCLA, or CPCU would be advantageous

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The salary provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. The starting salary range for this position is $110,700.00 - $181,400.00.
