Job Description
Primary Function of Position:

The Endoluminal business unit at Intuitive is seeking an Innovation Lead to identify and develop new business opportunities to unlock future growth, build a robust and differentiated ecosystem, bridge existing product/technology gaps and enable an open access platform. This position will lead a matrixed team of internal and external specialists through the innovation and business implementation process and will play a critical role in building sustainable business models leveraging both internal and external partnerships.

This role will focus on leading new Endoluminal venture development and managing a portfolio of activities across the innovation and business implementation process, including fostering relationships with select startup/strategic partners, developing collaboration opportunities, executing POCs or pilots with partners, developing and pitching new venture proposals to secure internal funding, overseeing the product development of demos and MVPs in collaboration with engineering colleagues, and working to operationalize new ventures.

Essential Job Duties:


  • Lead a matrixed team of internal and external entrepreneurs and specialists to identify, incubate and implement new innovations and/or businesses that will drive future growth for the Endoluminal business unit.

  • Collaborate with the business development team to Identify and evaluate high-potential startups and new technology growth areas within or adjacent to the Endoluminal technology space.

  • Support and manage the development of new strategic engagements with select external organizations to enable Endoluminal innovation priorities.

  • Support the development of collaboration models (licenses, M&A, commercial agreement, investment etc.), product/service concepts and business models including investigation of value proposition, customer segments, market channels, key partners, key resources, revenue streams and cost structure.

  • Execute new market research and pilots/POCs to evaluate and validate value proposition of new innovations/businesses.

  • Support and manage the incubation and implementation of new programs, working with partners across the business including, engineering, clinical, finance, regulatory, market access, business development and legal.

  • Collaborate with commercial and competitive intelligence teams to monitor and review external market trends, competitive landscape, intellectual property and emerging technologies.

  • Ongoing oversight of portfolio of innovation programs once established.

  • Track portfolio of internal and external innovation programs to support key outcome points for M&A or transfer/integration of innovations within the Endoluminal business unit.

  • Work across the organization with internal and external partners to align functional support and input for the innovation programs.

  • Identify program risks and work closely with internal team and partners to implement mitigation strategies.

  • Collaborate with finance to develop and maintain budget for innovation programs.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum 8+ years of healthcare industry experience (Med-Tech preferred) in corporate innovation, product development, corporate development, accelerators/incubators or startups.

  • Comfortable working across cross-functional teams and influencing decision making.

  • Proven data-backed skills with advanced understanding of valuation and return on investment analysis.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including scientific and business experts externally and company leadership internally.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity around assessing new business opportunities; energetic and resourceful self-starter with a high sense of urgency.


Required Education and Training
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree in business or clinically relevant field preferred.

Working Conditions
  • Up to 25% travel

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience incubating new businesses at a startup and/or global healthcare company is a plus.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $204,000 USD - $306,000 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $173,400 USD - $260,200 USD

Travel: 25% of the time
Workplace Type: Purposeful Onsite - This job requires being onsite for leader-defined events and activities which could be monthly/annually. Onsite frequency may increase based on business need.
