Position Summary:
 


The Shop Lead assists and develops technicians in all phases of troubleshooting and repair of equipment in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team” and serves as the main contact between the shop personnel and Technical Services Department concerning problems that arise during the repair of the equipment. The shop lead is also responsible for the leadership and development of technicians in their area.
 


Pay Rate: $23.18-$31.50 per hour.

Pay dependent on experience and education.

  • Understands how to use the work order system. Completes all documents and parts orders associated with repairs in an accurate and timely manner. Identifies parts for return timely.

  • Works effectively with others in the shop and accepts helpful technical advice from others with more work experience.

  • Communicates effectively with Shop Leads, Shop Coordinators and Managers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on.

  • Always engages in required safety practices and maintains quality housekeeping in work area.

  • Work is accomplished to the Service Departments quality standards, within allowed time.

  • Reads and understands the manufacturers’ Operation and Maintenance Manual per machine type and complies with its contents.

  • Inspects equipment and maintains equipment to ensure safe operation.

  • Understands the operation, function, specifications, capabilities and controls of any piece of rental equipment to ensure all operating controls and functions are in compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.

  • Inspects machines returned from rental for customer damage and notifies the supervisors regarding any specific damage that was found.

  • Adhere to manager’s and lead mechanic’s directions regarding all repairs and service calls.

  • Perform intermediate troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures with appropriate supervision to determine root cause of failure.

  • Assist in cleaning, rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining equipment and components.

  • Tests, measures, and adjusts engine and machine systems and components within tolerances of manufacturer’s specifications.

  • Attends training as requested.

  • Assumes yard duties as needed; loads/unloads equipment and cleans returned rental equipment with pressure washer.

  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs.

  • Other duties as assigned by manager.











                     Required Education and Experience:



                    • High School Diploma or GED

                    • Graduation from a technical school with emphasis on diesel engine preferred

                    • 3 years heavy equipment, engine, or mechanical repair experience

                    • 3-5 years administrative/clerical experience

                    • 3-5 years customer service experience

                    • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills

                    • Safety & Product Knowledge

                    • Heavy work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more

                    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word

                    • Intermediate knowledge of DMS and ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW

                    • Service Link
