Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

American Experience is an award-winning historical documentary series broadcasting nationally on PBS and is the longest running and most-watched history series on television. The series brings together on air and online some of the world’s preeminent and most insightful historians, journalists, authors and witnesses to history. Our goal is to cement American Experience as the go-to source for great history, great storytelling, and a broader understanding that history belongs to all of us. 

JOB OVERVIEW

GBH is seeking a talented Digital Video Editor to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our production crew, you will be responsible for creating visually compelling content for digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a passion for storytelling.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Color Correction: Apply advanced color correction techniques to balance footage and ensure it meets specifications. Maintain a high level of quality control throughout the post-production process.


  • Creative Content Enhancement: Utilize your expertise in video editing and motion graphics to enhance documentary content for digital platforms. Create original motion graphics and special effects that elevate the visual appeal of our productions.


  • Technical Support and Innovation: Provide technical support to team members and offer innovative solutions to overcome challenges during the editing process. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance our production workflows.


  • Media Management and Workflow Optimization: Manage media assets efficiently to establish smooth workflows throughout the post-production process. Organize files, footage, and project timelines to ensure seamless collaboration and project delivery.


  • Website and Platform Publishing: format and upload videos to our website and additional publishing platforms.


  • Collaborative Team Player: Work closely with directors, producers, and other production staff to understand their creative vision and deliver video content that exceeds expectations. Collaborate effectively to brainstorm ideas and troubleshoot technical issues.


  • Review the edited video and revise it as directed by Senior Producer


  • Conceive and create motion graphics independently.


  • Proactively stay on top of trends/best practices for key video channels and develop new creative ideas and approaches regularly.


  • Manage priorities to meet deadlines.


  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure adherence to brand standards.


SKILL SET


  • Proven experience as a video editor, with a strong portfolio showcasing your creative work.


  • Experience with motion graphics design preferred.


  • Proficiency in industry-standard editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, DaVinci Resolve Studio, and Media Encoder.


  • Experience with color correction, audio editing, and visual effects to enhance video content.


  • Strong understanding of video specifications and technical requirements for video delivery.


  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.


  • Detail-oriented approach with a passion for storytelling and visual storytelling techniques.


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.


  • 5 – 7  years of experience producing and editing long and short form content with an emphasis in creating dynamic animations and graphics.


  • Strong interest in history content across multiple platforms.


  • Ability to craft content for various audiences, including educational or youth focused.


  • Advanced understanding of how to search for and source archival materials.
