Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DoD), is seeking a Virtualization and Combat System Integration lead engineer to be based in Mt. Laurel, NJ or Arlington, VA. S/he will work with a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers within the Missile Defense Business Area to solve some of the DoD's toughest challenges. Initiative, creativity, reliability, and efficient teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic customer space.
Overview:
The Virtualization and Combat System Integration Lead will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and managing a production-level Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Virtual System Test Environment (VSTE) that consists of hardware and software located in an IDT classified lab and connected to the Missile Defense Agency Classified Network (MDACNet). At the core of the VSTE is IDT's flagship Automated Test and Re-Test (ATRT) Enterprise Platform (AEP), which enables virtualized combat system software to be deployed within virtual test beds to execute alongside ATRT's suite of automated test and analysis tools. Prior experience in combat system integration and test (I&T) is required, with an emphasis on the MDA Aegis BMD or US Navy Aegis program. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to general maintenance of the system infrastructure including servers, storage, and networking equipment, the software orchestration of these servers, and creation and administration of virtualized platforms.

Responsibilities Include:
Integrate hardware and software components into a complex, enterprise-level production test and evaluation (T&E) environment
Develop, execute, and optimize Aegis test flows for the Aegis BMD mission
Interface with customers (internal and external) for technical and programmatic requirements
Participate in customer-facing demonstrations of the VSTE and associated technologies
Assist with the integration of new applications as they are added to the tactical environment
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in engineering
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, or related field
Required Skills:
Combat system integration and test experience, preferably Aegis
Experience with server and/or desktop virtualization
Familiar with Networking basics
Experience with the following technology areas: Docker, Helm, K8s/Kubernetes, Ansible-playbook, and SQL relational databases (at least one of: Postgres, MS-SQL, Oracle)
Proficiency in a Linux operating environment, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
Ability to read, write, and debug scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, Ruby, Java, C/C++, and JavaScript
Virtualization infrastructure experience with VMware/KVM or similar virtualization tools
Ability to lead the logical systematic conversion of program requirements into solution that acknowledge technical and cost constraints
Familiarity with Agile development processes
Ability to travel up to 15%
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Radium, Argocd, Rancher, and Keycloak
BMD-related domain knowledge and experience
Experience with software testing, configuration management, and test automation
Familiarity with distributed systems, algorithms, and software design patterns
Proficiency working with different software development tools (Git, SVN, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Nexus, etc.)
