The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is accepting applications for a full-time professional-track faculty position in French/Portuguese Language beginning August 16, 2022 at a 9-month salary of $43,500. This is a 9-month non-tenure track appointment, renewable based on Dean's approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding. Duties: Teach four courses per semester, including Business French and Portuguese language; prepare course syllabi and handouts; evaluate and grade student course work, assignments and papers; maintain required records including student attendance and grades; maintain regularly scheduled office hours to assist students; participate in program and departmental meetings and activities, including program building. Course releases may be given to serve as the short-term study abroad liaison for the College of Arts and Sciences and Darla Moore School of Business and serve as strategic coordinator for student study in Latin America. Our graduate program options include master's degrees in Comparative Literature, French, German and Spanish. Required Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in French, Portuguese, or related field is required and must be in hand by August 1, 2022. Evidence of successful teaching experience at the collegiate level and native or near-native fluency in French, Portuguese, and English is expected.



Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to implement evolving best practices in second language pedagogy and cultural knowledge instruction in the classroom; previous coordination of basic language courses; ACTFL certification; and experience teaching French and Portuguese language for the professions a plus.
