Vitalant is looking for a Chief People Officer with strong business acumen who can provide strategic Human Capital partnership to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team, and outstanding leadership of the Human Resources function. The leader needs to have a track record of making a true business impact and the ability to gain immediate credibility with stakeholders. The position reports to the CEO, David Green, and leads a team of 5 direct reports.

Key priorities for the successful candidate include elevating HR capabilities and standardizing HR practices, leading an ongoing cultural transformation, identifying opportunities to drive initiatives to enable one of the company's strategic pillars to "Empower Our People", and leading the efforts to implement a new HCM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Strategy:


  • Develop, implement, and evolve Human Resources/People Strategy in concert with the executive team.

  • Collaborate with senior executives and line managers to ensure people strategies are established and, known communicated, and supportive of organizational strategies and desired outcomes are measured.

  • Act as a business driver and workforce strategist for Vitalant's growth and expansion initiatives; ensure that proactive and insightful workforce planning is initiated, sustained, and incorporated into Vitalant growth plans; use data and analytics to understand trends, predict needs, make decisions, and drive actions.

  • Evolve and oversee HR structure and processes to meet changing business needs, i.e. partner to design and grow biotherapy organization, as appropriate.

  • As needed, lead HR-related M&A due diligence and integration of acquired populations.

Culture and Employee Engagement:

  • In partnership with the executive team, act as the primary steward for the Vitalant workforce and culture

  • Lead and partner with other leaders to foster high levels of Employee Engagement through culture initiative and inspiring workplace experiences that excite hearts and minds.

  • Serve as a role model and brand ambassador championing Vitalant's Mission, Values, and Culture.

Talent:

  • Cultivate robust, diverse talent pipelines - at all levels.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO on human capital-related matters, including executive team development and effectiveness; similarly, be a trusted advisor to the leadership team as they lead, develop, and evolve their teams.

  • Along with OD and Talent Acquisition, be the Vitalant experts on the current and future landscape for talent, and shape creative, future-focused strategies that ensure the company attracts and develops diverse and exceptional talent.

  • In partnership with the VP, DEI, establish, socialize, and drive the DEI agenda.

Total Rewards and Performance:

  • Lead Total Rewards strategies and practices and ensure current and future market competitiveness.

  • Oversee compensation and benefits program evolution and drive high levels of execution.

  • Ensure compliance with all compensation and benefits related regulatory requirements.

HR Team Leadership:

  • Reintegrate, develop, and evolve a high-performing collaborative HR team.

  • Continue to mature and upskill HR functional COE capabilities and execution to provide competitive advantage and promote innovation in people practices.

  • Optimize HR team structure and size as technology and process improvements are implemented.

Technology, process, and efficiency:

  • Assess HRIS needs, select and oversee/lead implementation of new HRIS system and other needed HR applications.

  • Provide systems thinking and assess and identify areas needing standardization; drive an appropriate higher level of process orientation in HR and other related areas.

  • Drive a greater measurement focus on HR process and services and tie to business metrics and outcomes; develop a human capital scorecard and/or dashboards and perform analysis on a variety of talent metrics, providing ongoing current-state statistics and future trends & projections.

  • As part of the executive team, partner to provide leadership and execution support of system-wide implementations and initiatives.

Other:

  • Partner with operations to manage and optimize unionized operations, while also providing union avoidance activities to prevent or mitigate further unionization.

  • Oversee HR regulatory compliance and relevant corporate governance.

Requirements


  • 8 years progressive HR Business Partner and HR executive leadership experience across the HR spectrum, including Human Capital strategy, talent management and OD, talent acquisition, employee relations, collective bargaining, total rewards, DEI, performance management, employee assessment and development, succession planning, organizational and leadership development, and training required .
    • 15+ years preferred HR Business Partner and HR executive leadership experience across the HR spectrum, including Human Capital strategy, talent management and OD, talent acquisition, employee relations, collective bargaining, total rewards, DEI, performance management, employee assessment and development, succession planning, organizational and leadership development, and training.

  • 15+ years proven track record of assessing relevant scale organizational Human Capital needs and analyzing gaps between the desired state and current state in order to identify, design, and implement programs and processes to achieve business strategies preferred preferred .

  • 5+ years of experience leading HR to build and support distributed employee populations of 3,000+ across at least 50 sites and 25 states preferred .

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Science

  • MBA or Masters, preferred
