Position Summary

The primary function of the Sr. Principal, Consultant Relations is to manage strategic consultant practices, and key brokers/consultants (producers) in an assigned territory to assure strong alignment and to support new business production. The management functions includes the development and execution of strategies and tactics in the following areas; Territory Evaluation and Strategic Planning for key producer offices, Producer Prospecting and Relationship Development, Presentation Development and Delivery, coordination with Sales Directors assigned to the territory, coordination with Account Management Executives, as well as other internal stakeholders impacting content and communications to consultant practices. In addition, the Sr. Principal will have an informal reporting relationship with the VP teams to assure coordination among the Sales and Account Management teams and consistent reporting of findings and results.

Essential Functions


  • Develops new and ongoing relationships with potential consultant producers. Develops and executes strategic growth plan associated with top consulting practices, tactics outlined in territory strategic plan (e.g., regional forums for producers, establishment of direct mail campaigns, in conjunction with marketing and communications initiatives as appropriate, face-to-face visits).

  • Manages on-going relationships with existing producers and provides services to those producers to make working with Evernorth and ESI easier, including developing and communicating presentations, updates, and insights to key producers on ESI capabilities.

  • Works with sales and account teams in building and executing sales and retention strategies across key consultants.

  • Works in collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and ongoing consultant relations insights, strategies, and efforts (Account Management, sales marketing, product, competitive intelligence, legal, pricing, etc.), including high-level, strategic support for issue resolution.

  • Works on special projects and task forces as assigned.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. PharmD preferred.

  • 15+ years relevant experience or Master's degree with 10+ years relevant experience.

  • Ability to use proper judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Knowledge of employee benefits self-insurance marketplace including brokers and consultants.

  • Strong financial skills including understanding of PBM pricing and contracting to support sales growth.

  • PBM experience and consulting experience.

  • Ability to create and execute annual strategic plans for each firm based on key metrics and market dynamics.

  • Demonstrated success in sales and/or consultant relationships.

  • Strategic approach to consultant relationship management; applies best practices across consultant relationships.

  • Highly effective cross-functional collaboration to drive process improvements & client satisfaction.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills required.

  • Excellent PC skills in using Microsoft Office, Email, and Internet.

  • Leadership skills, team-orientation, a proactive management style and strong commitment to strategic relationship management and sales support and growth.

  • Excellent Organizational/prioritization skills.

  • Ability to travel as needed.
