Summary:



Reporting to the NA VP of Product Management, or the NA Product Manager, Rolls, the main objective of the Application Engineer is to grow sales of Andritz Rolls products by providing applications and product support to the sales team. In addition, the Application Engineer evaluates the product line, making appropriate recommendations for improvements and new products, and works closely with Sales, Operations and R&D to define and deliver product line objectives.



Primary Job Responsibilities:




  • Works and travels with field sales personal for product presentations, application meetings, paper machine evaluations for product recommendations in both paper and non-paper industries.
  • Maintains productive relationships with customers, developing good references and staying abreast of issues a customer may be facing.
  • Works with R&D to develop new products and make product improvements based upon the evaluation of product performance and an analysis of market potential.
  • Works with Marketing to develop and deliver trade names, campaigns, presentations, literature, and product launch programs for new and existing products.
  • Conducts training and new product seminars for Sales and the customers.
  • Assists Operations, Sales and R&D with Non-Conformance review of products and services to assure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Reports on trial installations of Andritz products, monitors competitor activity, and reports on competitor product performance as appropriate.
  • Participates in global Application Engineering discussions, and technical reviews.
  • Provides status and activity reports as required.



Job Requirements:




  • Individual should have an applicable technical degree with an appropriate level of paper industry technical experience. Additional non-paper industry technical experience is beneficial.
  • Individual should have general knowledge of Andritz product technology and paper machine operations in all paper grades.
  • Individual must have excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and be quick to respond to internal and external customers.
  • Individual must be proactive, and have the initiative to work without daily direction, but also be fully capable of working well in a team environment.
  • Appropriate travel throughout the region of responsibility is necessary.
