I am partnered with a full-service HVAC contractor established in the 1940's and based bang in the middle of mid-town Manhattan. They operate solely in the commercial construction sector with the bulk of their work being renovations or complete tenant fit-outs that can be valued anywhere from $5k-8MM.
They work across both union and non-union projects with 95% of their portfolio being here in Manhattan, and 80% of their current business being from repeat customers, showing the stability of the firm and the reputation they have in the industry.
Your new role
They are looking for a Mechanical Estimator that can competitively bid on multiple projects at anyone time:
Manage multiple mechanical projects ensuring timely completion of tasks associated with assigned project work in delivery of complete cost estimates.
Identifies and mitigates project related risk.
Provide strategic insight into diversifying their current project portfolio, trends in vendor pricing reporting directly to the Chief.
Read plans and blueprints.
Manage RFP's RFI's.
Breakdown the scope of work and manage mechanical take-off's and the value engineering process.
Meet with clients, architects, and owners and complete walk-throughs.
Oversee project handover to Project Management teams.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this position, the ideal candidate will have a strong background have been a mechanical contractor in the local New York market with a minimum of 2 years' experience and have solid relationships with local vendors.
Coming from a mechanical engineering degree is not essential but highly desired along with knowledge of estimating software.
