POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Structural engineering for bracing, lifting, and other temporary construction methods for mass timber installation.
Knowledge and continuing education of codes and standards related to construction-phase loads and temporary works.
Knowledge and continuing education of mass timber code requirements.
National travel as needed to support company jobsites.
Travel to Portland, OR roughly 6 weeks per year.
Assist in development and implementation of R&D projects related to temporary works and site safety.
Educate and train Timber Engineers in design of temporary works.
Assist in preparation of project schedules and estimates. Work with project teams early in the bidding process to provide order of magnitude bracing requirements to properly estimate costs of temporary work.
Work with and coordinate with the Virtual Design and Construction (VD&C) department to provide construction engineering drawings.
Work with field supervisors to identify opportunities for cost and schedule efficiencies.
Assure that potential risk factors have been evaluated and reviewed with supervisor. Communicate risks to field teams to help them understand the basis of construction engineering designs.
Assist in document review and advising for constructability and value analysis.
Assist Timber Engineers with structural engineering for delegated mass timber design on an as-needed basis.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Structural design experience (6 years minimum)
Temporary engineering design experience (3 years minimum)
PE registration required
Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals
Working knowledge of US structural design codes (including timber, steel, and concrete)
Drafting experience in Revit or similar software preferred
Basic Microsoft products computer skills required
Strong and effective communication skills (verbal and written)

Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting
Master's degree in structural engineering or civil engineering preferred
