Job Description

The Bose Automotive Systems Division (ASD) is a premium supplier of audio hardware and software to the global automotive industry. All Bose automotive audio systems are individually tuned for each car's unique acoustic environment. The core of Bose Automotive Systems is the audio experience enabled by DSP algorithms. The architecture of the system ranges from an amplifier designed and built by Bose along with other components such as transducers, to a fully software-only product running on a third-party amplifier or cockpit domain controller. During this period of extraordinary change in the automotive industry, software and hardware platforming and re-use is of critical importance to enable our products to leverage the latest technology while minimizing development cost.

Bose is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our Amplifier Platform software team to help us build our new platform for next-generation audio amplifier products.
Required skills and experience:


  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with an emphasis on software development for embedded systems

  • 10+ years of experience developing software for real-time embedded systems

  • Experience with microcontrollers including ARM

  • Solid software development skills focused on software engineering best practices such as object oriented designs, modularity, extensibility, reusability and maintainability

  • Thorough knowledge in C/C++

  • Ability to build comprehensive unit and system tests in software to verify implemented functions

  • Expert on embedded systems and writing/modifying device drivers and boot loaders

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including ability to produce clear and concise technical software documentation

  • Experience with real-time kernel/scheduler internals

  • Experience with multi-core and multi-processor architectures, IPC mechanisms.

  • Strong C/C++ skills and proficiency with scripting languages

  • Strong motivation to work in world-wide distributed and cross-functional teams to work on challenging problems such as as supporting project management, electrical, mechanical and quality engineering teams

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink

  • Familiarity with digital signal processing fundamentals for audio

  • Experienced in the areas of requirement management, problem definition, solution planning using industry leading methods and tools

  • Experience with DSP architecture and software development, such as ADI SHARC processors etc.

  • Experience developing software for real-time embedded systems for automotive OEMs in the domains AutoSAR, Ethernet, UDS including the expertise in using the involved industry-wide design and modeling tools

  • Solid understanding of the need for industry software quality and agile development processes (e.g. SCRUM, CMMI, ASPICE)

  • Prior experiences with the configuration/integration of 3rd party software layers into a pre-defined source code base

  • Experience and familiarity with scripting or software modeling languages

  • Ability to act as a software technical contact partner for internal and external customers is a plus

  • Hardware Analysis: Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer

  • Network & Protocol Analysis: CAN, Ethernet, UDS

  • Software development: Debuggers, Emulators, Version Control and Bug Tracking Systems, Software Design and Modeling Tools

  • Office Productivity: Microsoft Office Tools including Visio

  • Specific: DaVinci Developer & Configurator, CANdela, CANoe, CANanlyzer
