We are currently seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer/Estimator with a strong background in the commercial sector to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering and estimating, with a proven track record of success in bidding and managing commercial projects. The right candidate will be responsible for project management, profitability, construction support and documentation, as well as estimate quantities of materials to be used in the construction of new homes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Read and interpret architectural and engineering plans, specifications, and other technical documents to prepare accurate project estimates.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
Contributes to the oversight of Construction Document development for compliance with office standards, applicable codes, and accuracy.
Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
Analyze project requirements, scope, and specifications to identify potential risks, challenges, and opportunities for value engineering.
Conduct thorough site visits and assessments to evaluate existing conditions, site logistics, and any potential constraints that may impact project costs and schedules.
Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals for commercial constructions projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes, negotiate pricing, and make recommendations for subcontract awards to optimize project profitability.
Maintain accurate records of all project estimates, bids, and related documentation, and update internal databases and systems accordingly.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client presentations to discuss project scope, requirements, and proposed solutions.
Collaborate with the project management team throughout the project lifecycle to provide ongoing support, cost analysis, and value engineering recommendations as needed.
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive positioning and profitability on projects.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety protocols at all times, promoting a culture of safety and compliance within the organization/
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
5+ years’ experience working as an Estimator
3+ years’ experience as a Junior to Mid-Level Estimator
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil engineering and estimating, with a focus on commercial construction projects
5+ years’ experience in the Multi-Family, Commercial construction environment
Excellent communication, time management, and documentation skills
Experience with site civil design and permitting and applicable software applications including hydrology modeling programs, storm drainage programs
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, Planswift, or BlueBeam
BRIX is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field required
