We are seeking a research assistant for a project focused on parental mental health for families from marginalized communities with an infant currently or formerly hospitalized in the NICU. The research project is evaluating the impact of Culturally Concordant Peer Groups for Black, Latino, and Indigenous families. The research assistant will be responsible for development of study materials, assisting with recruitment (at four NICU sites), distribution and collection of study forms, maintaining documentation of peer group participants, coordination of between study sites, setting up peer group sessions, human subjects compliance, data cleaning, and basic data preparation and analysis. Also, a potential for conducting individual and family interviews after guidance from PI about qualitative interviewing.
We are seeking a candidate with prior educational or work experience in the area of mental health, pediatrics or obstetrics, health disparities, language discordance, and working with families from diverse background. Prior work experience and deep understanding of working with underserved communities and people of color is particularly desirable, this includes the understanding of historical context and systemic barriers. Skills in qualitative interviewing, survey research, or support group format are helpful. Ability to speak Spanish fluently would be helpful but is not required.
