Description Department: Center for Community Engagement (Drysdale 218)
Title: CCE Dell Thrift Student Assistant
Supervisor: Community Engagement Coordinator
Term: One-year appointment for Academic Year 2024-2025 with opportunity for re-application and re-hire.
Hours/Week: 10 hours per week, with flexible scheduling and working location options.
Essential Duties:

  • Manage Dell Thrift Spaces: Oversee the organization and upkeep of the clothing closet and food pantry.




  • Keep a consistent schedule for community partner visits, with flexibility for project needs.




  • Partner with the Coordinator to define daily tasks and responsibilities.




  • Alternate between physical tasks (moving items, cart rolling) and data management, with a mix of scheduled and flexible work times.




  • Dedicate one morning weekly for food bank pickups and schedule regular check-ins with the Coordinator.




  • Plan, manage, and execute one Dell Thrift outreach event per semester (pop-up shop, presence at Sustainability Fair, et cetera) as designed with supervisor.

    • A full-time undergraduate student at the University of Lynchburg.




    • Highly organized and efficient.




    • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.




    • Adaptable to flexible working needs and scheduling.

    • Ability to work with a diverse student population, as well as faculty, staff, and parents.
