Schneider Electric is looking for a highly innovative and enthusiastic Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our firmware team on-site at our Andover, MA location.

About

The APC firmware team is responsible for developing firmware for controlling UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and IoT devices (for example, Smart Power Strip).

What will you do?


  • Architect of embedded control strategy, formulate specifications and implement control firmware for PFC, Chargers, DC/DC, and inverter etc.

  • Use device driver development for CAN, I2C, SPI etc., board bring-up required.

  • Prove design concepts through a combination of computer simulation and physical laboratory implementation/testing.

  • Participate the design and product review meetings with stake holders.

  • Build relationship with outside vendors and consultants and ensure ecosystem alignment with SE product roadmap.

  • Collaborate with other overseas professionals for product development.


To whom will you report?

Senior Manager Firmware Engineering Technical


  • BS/MS degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.

  • 3-6 years experience.

  • Embedded Linux skills is mandatory: embedded Linux distribution Yocto is preferred.

  • Hands on Experience in AI which includes Natural Language processing, Clustering techniques, Supervised classifications and Regression, Tree Based model and Ensemble Techniques.

  • Hands on Experience on Timer Series Analysis and Deep Learning techniques.

  • Strong Programming experience in Python, C/C++ for 32-bit controllers/DSP's

  • Strong Development Experience in Low Level Device Drivers like SPI, UART, CAN , I2C.

  • Strong Programming experience in RTOS environments like Linux, UC OS-II, ThreadX or other platforms (Preferable)

  • Experience in developing control systems for Power inverters/Converters

  • Experience in understanding Matlab Simulink

  • Experience in Simulation for Control Loops like PI , PD for Power topologies like Buck, Boost, Inverter etc.

  • Experience in Deep Learning Embedded System AI.

  • Experience in industrial field bus communication protocols like MODBUS / CAN and protocols like USB, TCP/IP, and embedded webservers

  • Experience in conducting firmware code review and using software static analysis tools (e.g., Klocwork, Coverity, Parasoft/RTRT/LDRA).

  • Proficient in understanding the schematics and debugging hardware issues. Hand On with use of Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies etc.

  • Familiar with version control systems - Subversion / Git.

  • Familiarity with troubleshooting & testing in power lab environment.

  • Familiarity with different battery chemistries is a plus. (VRLA, Li-Ion, etc.)

  • Proficient with data structures and design patterns for writing high quality code.

  • Proficient with firmware development of analog/digital power control (DC/DC, AC/DC, DC/AC).

  • Excellent communication and articulation skills.
