Nemours is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Tech. (Full-Time), to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Winter Garden, Florida.

Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children's Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area's only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve; we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.

The Certified Ophthalmic Tech (COT) provides individualized, age appropriate, culturally competent, goal directed and family centered care in the Ophthalmological Clinic. The COT completes thorough medical histories and performs ophthalmological testing an ancillary procedure within their scope of practice. Position requires a great deal of initiative and flexibility to cope with stress and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Given the level of training and experience required in their position, the associate will be expected to work well independently and must be extremely discreet to maintain patient confidentiality.


  • Accurately collects healthcare data and documents appropriate information in patientrecord according to policy and training resources.
  • Independently performsand accurately documentsstandard ophthalmological testing/procedures within COT scope of practice.
  • Is responsible for professional practice and development of self and others according to scope of practice.
  • Complies with and promotes Nemours Standards of Behavior.
  • Provides safe and effective patient/family care. Maintainsa safe environment for patients, families, visitors and employees.
  • Participates in ensuringthe overall financial well-being of the Division of Ophthalmology and the Nemours Foundation.
  • Performs clerical duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • High School Diploma required. Specialized (1 year of training beyond high school.)
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Ophthalmic Technician preferred.
  • Travel to other locations required.
