Body Shop Technician (Mechanical Chassis Technician) - What You'll Do

The Body Shop Technician performs repair to trucks and also trucks involved in collisions with concentration on the chassis and performs fiber glass work, performs body restoration work when needed and maintains tools and equipment in a safe manner.

Duties:

• Performs chassis restoration on trucks involved in collisions


• Performs work on rear and front axels


• Replaces transmission, radiators and compressors


• Replaces starter, frame rails, and fifth wheel


• Performs electrical work on trucks


• Notifies Manager of any additional repairs needed


• Notifies Manager of any difficulties or problems that may prevent quality job from being performed or cause a change in promised time


• Maintains tools and equipment in proper state of repair


• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner


• Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment


• Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint and other hazardous materials


• 
  Complies with all federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• More than three (3) years' experience as mechanical and chassis technician


• Freightliner Heavy Duty Trucks Systems


• Professional Certification preferred; willing to obtain DTNA certification


• Freightliner Electrical Troubleshooting


• Ability to use wide range of tools and equipment to assess and repair trucks


• Free range of motion in their hands and arms to work with small parts and small spaces


• Critical thinking skills to assess damage and determine how to make repairs

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.


• Must be able to pass post offer drug test, and physical

Compensation

• $24-28/hr depending on experience
