Overview

Responsibilities

Summary:

Primarily responsible for all technical accounting matters including preparation and maintenance of schedules and related memos. Ensure the ledger accounts used to develop financial statements and reports are maintained.

Must have a strong accounting background and be knowledgeable in accounting systems and the general ledger. Provide functional advice or training to less experienced accountants. Perform financial projects as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain schedules for all technical accounting matters including revenue recognition and committed use accounting, lease accounting, financial instruments and technical accounting for future pronouncements.
  • Prepare and maintain technical accounting memos for related matters
  • Research and document proper accounting treatments for unusual transactions in areas of responsibility
  • Prepare financial account reconciliations, research and remedy transactions and posting errors, record journal entries in the Company’s ERP system, and maintain appropriate documentation for all transactions
  • Document accounting and finance department procedures and support development, documentation and adherence of controls
  • Prepare financial reports that meet the needs of the business including ad-hoc financial analysis to facilitate strategic and tactical decision-making
  • Provide assistance to business units within the company to manage financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analyses by the business units
  • Work cross-functionally and communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
  • Assist with external financial statement audit
  • Miscellaneous projects as assigned


Skills/Experience Required:

  • Bachelors Degree, concentration in Accounting
  • CPA preferred (licensed or active progress towards obtaining license)
  • Experience in accounting for distribution business or billing services business preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, internal controls, and general-ledger account analysis and reconciliation
  • Problem solving abilities and good organizational skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
