(Contingent upon available funding): 15.00 - 16.88, Hourly Work Schedule: Typically 8 hrs/day, 5 days/week Faculty Appt Period: Job Summary: Position Summary:

Responsible for preparing appropriate paperwork for patient medical records,and accurate collection and updating of patient demographic and insuranceinformation in the computer. Ensures verification of insurance via insurancewebsites or by calling the insurance company. Collects co-pays or receipts onthe patient balance during the check in process.  Assists with thereferral/prior-authorization process. Professionally answers multi-line phoneand handles calls accurately.  Follows department standards whilescheduling patient appointments.  Excellent communication and customerservice skills required during all encounters with OSU patients, as well asinternal and external providers.



Environmental Hazards:

Possible exposure to hazardous material, hot and cold, blood borne pathogens.

-High school diploma/GED
-Some college or technical school in related field or 6 months related jobexperience

Skills, Proficiencies, Knowledge:


Experience working with computers and software, performing accurate andefficient data entry, answering multi-line telephone, and schedulingappointments. Must have an understanding of medical terminology, work wellunder pressure in a fast paced clinical environment, and have the ability tolearn new processes as required. Strong interpersonal and communication skillsare required.  



Preferred:

Six (6) months experience with Electronic Health Records preferred.
